As much fun as I have drawing woman and vampires, I really wish I would get a non-chick or lesbian vampire commission for once.
Anyway, I did this as a series of samples for a night club in San Diego. It was a rough sketch that I just could not stop working on. They went with a more cheesecake style pose in the end.
Crits welcomed.

I can't believe no-one put a comment yet! Those clothes are just amazing...brilliant rendering, there. Very expressive, too--not just the face, but the posture, the shading, the atmosphere...everything. I am very, very impressed by this.
I feel like a right jerk not giving you any critiques, but I honestly can't think of any right now, and I don't want to be one of those people who nitpicks on tiny things that really don't matter just so they can have something to crit on. All I can say is that the overall effect of this picture is stunning, and when you get that, you've succeeded. |

The lesbian vampire business is booming right now in this day and age, face it. I like this drawing, you have the photo quality smoothness and tones that I always admire. The face is kinda washed out in areas, more definition on the nose and cheeks and edge of the face would be nice. The leg that's coming toward me seems a little off, I wish I knew legs well enough to tell you exactly how. It's a little thick and the foot doesn't seem wide enough, especially in comparison to the one behind it. Also, there seems to be a lot of brown in her shadow on the ground. ? Well anyway great pic, great pose, great quality, great vampire. Seeya |

Socar MYLES: Thanks for the kind words. I'm actually used to the not getting any responses thing. If its not digital most of the members here (but certainly not all of them) won't give you the time of day. So I appreciate it when I get a crit or kind word from anybody.
Timski: No kidding about the chick/lesbian vampire market. As much as I love drawing woman, I also love drawing big robots and comics.
I see what you're talking about in the face. Perhaps a thin line on the right side of the outter rim of her face would help separate it from her body. But I don't see what you're seeing in the legs? She's wearing platform heals so if the foot seems thick then it looks right. As for the brownish color in the shadows of the floor, I used a transparent black and a different pencil to seperate the values of the wall from the floor so they could be distinguished from each other with out over rendering it.
The model is actually my wife and that was the way she was dressed for a club one night. The club owner was very specific she wanted a pin up of my wife exactly how she was dressed when I was offered the commission ("I want to buy another painting of a woman.." pauses and looks my wife up and down, "and I want her to look just like THAT!!" points at my wife.). I did several cheesecake pinups and a vampire pinup (the night club already owns several of my vampire pieces). I'll post the Cheescake ones later. |

It's definitly a good piece. I can't think of anything to comment about other than everything feels appropriate to the piece. I don't understand the whole lesbian vampire fad I'm hearing about but whatever... |
