Hayao Miyazaki's new film "Spirited Away" just won the Golden Bear, Germany's most prestigious film award at the Berlinale in Berlin, taking the festival audience by total surprise.
That makes me so happy I can't express it in words. First, they honor a japanese film , which is a rarity itself, and then it's an animated film which is about as likely as the sky falling on our heads.
And it also ensures that Spirited Away will get a European release, which was far from sure (It took 4 years for Princess Mononoke to get to us).
At last, animated films are getting some of the recognition they deserve. |
