Here are a couple of pictures that I've done since the beginning of the new year. I haven't really had the time to draw as much as I'd like because I've been busy with college application stuff. The first picture is a portrait of my Dad. I think it looks sort of like him, but I really need to learn how to get the portraits I do to have more of a likeness to the real person. The second picture is just a still life (some items that were laying right beside my monitor). I was bored and trying to put off studying for my Physics exam, so I started sketching them. Critiques and helpful comments would be much appreciated for either or both pictures. Thanks.
The "reference" I used for the portrait of my father...

Hehe.. they're nice. I like the bottom one. Makes art out of somthing trivial, works well. Good work |

well i'll comment: i think the one of your dad is really nice. The likeness seems decent, though I can't be that sure...the hat and glasses sorta make him look a bit different. tho if he wears them all the time (well the glasses anyway) maybe you should have added them in, no?
as for the second pic, it is well draw, a nice exercize and all, but it still isn't particularly interesting... not your fault tho, you did a nice job with it |

KeLLuSioN: Hmmm, I didn't add the glasses because he doesn't like to have them on in portraits (and because they'd really make his face harder to paint, the way they distort parts, cause light to bounce around, and the perspective issues). Thanks for your comments ^_^. |
