[edit]
Ok this game i heard about a few years ago, called Decay. I thought it looked THE AWSOMEST!! And now i found some old-ass screenies of it and it looks great in software mode even - and you say DOOM3 DOOM3!! This is in 1998
- Full 32bit rendering as default
- Efficient graphics/texture compression/decompression, without any quality loss
- Multiple graphics processing pipelines, distributable over dual processors
- Renders bezier patches, NURBS surfaces and polygons
- True bumpmapping technology, realtime calculated
- True realtime dynamic lighting, no lightmaps
- Full realtime Phong/Blinn and metal shading
- Realtime calculated specular highlights
- Omni, spots, directional and volumetric lights
- 24bit RGB colored lighting
- Dynamic realtime shadows
- Fully dynamic/deformable geometry
- Advanced particle/meta-particle systems
- Skeletal animation with expressions
- Realtime full forward/inverse kinematics
- Highly sophisticated dynamics subsystems
- Both software and hardware accelerated rendering

DUDE!!! What happened?! If the list above is true, and screenshots arent pre-rendered, what is the meaning of life?! I mean HL came out around that time and it was poop compared to this.
PS: im a bit hypo ok, but somebody who knows, please clear this up!

Ehehehe actually, the first message i posted before editing i asked if it was renamed to Max Payne..
But Max wasnt made by Insomnia Software was it? Their website is down looks like Decay is dead.. Beside i think Decay looked better in 1998 than Max Payne now |

Maybe the hardware requirement was too high for their time.. so even if they released the game not many gamers would have machines powerful enough to run.
The screenshot looks gorgeous though, hope they pick it up again. |

the answer to [Shizo]'s question lays here
here's an exerpt

The actual game was way too big and advanced for its time, like Deus Ex times 3... |
Also, I believe Max Payne was made by Remedy and produced by 3D realms and distributed by GODGames.

NURBS,Patches, no lightmaps - all realtime
omg! Give the credit to the guys!
Anyways, New World Order doesnt even look as good, but close.
