i checked through all the past posts and ive posted questions before about sculpey, but i havent found an answer to my dilema.

what i need to know is what happens if you bake an already baked piece of sculpey.

i have to sculpt an accesory which is very complicated to do in one piece. so what i need to know is can i sculpt one piece, bake it, sculpt onto that and then bake it again?

its funny cuz i never even touched sculpey yet. i have this great idea that im completely stoked about and im just going through mounds and mounds of research and sketches.

ofcourse i wont start to sculpt the main figure right away when i buy the sculpey, i already planned which parts i can do first to make myself familiar with the characteristics of the medium.

well all i need right now is the answer to my "multi-baking" question. what happens or what i can do and so far.

oh and one more thing. does sculpey apply easily to pre baked sculpey?

You can do that with super sculpey(the pink stuff)but I'm not sure about regular sculpey(the grey stuff).

Not to be a bastard or anything, but in my opinion sculpy sucks. I used to make little figurines and stuff and I remember it being really fragile and the colors get darker and more ugly once baked...I'd just use regular clay unless you absolutley must use sculpy, in which case, go for it, just don't expect extremely high quality results...

Sculpy smells horrible too!

what do u mean "dont expect extremely high quality results?"

i researched artists that only use Sculpey, and all their work is just awesome.

and who cares if it smells...so do oil paints.

Milliput is great for miniatures. Too expensive for large stuff. I made some things out of Fima before but it oozed gooey stuff after the third bake.

you can bake it twice and it'll work great, if you're careful. i guess you shouldn't bake it for any longer than you should.. or else it'll turn out a nice black color.

Bake the fragile, intricate piece halfway, to a sturdy, but not solid result. Then, bake it along with the rest of the piece.
