Eheh actually they already had technology to take a picture of earth down to such a detail to be able to see what time it is on a person'a watch. I saw it in a magazine few years ago. But realtime.. that will be a few more years ahead, imagine all the sattelites, amount of pixels, and the speed of internet connection you would need.
This one is pretty coo cause it even shows the altitude map. |

shizobum, you didn't read it in an article. You watched "Enemy of the State" with Will Smith and Anthony Hopkins.
Believe you me, shizo, the satellie with the finest resolution up there is the Ikonos, which can resolve things about one meter across, not one millimeter.
I mean, think about the factors. First of all, most satellites orbit awfully high, around 26 miles or more. Second, they have to look at a usually diagonal angle through at least 26 miles of FLUID, MOVING, DIFFRACTING AND REFRACTING ATMOSPHERE. Ever wonder why stars twinkle? Third, if we had satellites with resolution that fine, then why would we waste millions of tax dollars on spy drones, spy planes, and other such uselessness? |

because they invented the telescope.
because sometimes it doesn't rain.
because they do have spy satalites, but maybe the want an updated image.
because I'm pretty sure nobody would want to hand draw the U.S..
(in that order) |
