i saw the Thomas Eakins show at the metropolitan museum of art last week. all in all i was disappointed. i had been waiting almost half a year for the show. seeing his work in person was a bit of a let down. the larger works lacked any sort of emotion, i know what some of you will say, that he was more analytical than emotional with his paintings and that was his intention, but that's not necessarily true because some of his smaller and later paintings certainly displayed emotion. My favorite of his paintings is the one of his wife and his dog, that painting to me, is the jewel of the met.
After the met I went to the forum gallery, where Ellen Eagle had her work up. Check these out, pretty cool huh? Pastels, kinda like Dan Greene. Type her up on yahoo. If youre interested, theres a few sites with a lot of her work.
