If Elves were still knocking about and were making robots, this is what they'd look like (I think )

Nice. I don't like the black stroke, but maybe that's just me. _________________ The Syn |

i think that what would be a better criticism would be to vary your line weight as to create a heirarchy of what you want people to notice first about it. nice rendering. _________________ if equal affection cannot be, let the more loving one be me |

Hmm, worth some thought. Thanks, I'll bear that in mind! _________________ "Pass me the banjo, that one there, good lad." -Socrates |

and I came in this thread expecting to see yet another LOTR fan art of whatshisface. What a NICE suprise !!
I think it's lovely. Will you be making more of those ? I seem to be in the minority that likes the outer black stroke.. There's just one thing tho ; aren't elves more um.. characterised by their pointy ears ? I know it's a sterotype of fantasy related material but just my 2 c.
Oh and those tribal/alienish marks are neat. |

Thanks! My outlining technique seams to be a bit of a subjective thing. I really like it. I suppose it wouldn't really be particularly practical as a pure illustration style, but I think I'm going down more of a conceptual route...
About the whole LotR thing, I was hoping that the title would draw in more people than just calling it 'Elf Robot' or something similar.
At any rate, I hadn't intended it to be an elvish thing, it just kind of evolved that way. It actually got me started thinking about all the other races...
What would Middle Earth look like if it were set in the future? It stuck me that many of the elvish qualities Tolkien set out in his books could describe some kind of artificial intelligence...
Orcs - in Tolkiens vision were some kind of cross breading of elves and gargoyles (or something - I forget right now), so under a future context they could be cyborgs.
Anyway, the upshot of it all is that I'm thinking about drawing up my own interpretation of the main characters and races of a future Middle Earth.
Thanks for the feed-back _________________ "Pass me the banjo, that one there, good lad." -Socrates |
