If you buy the GeforceFX i will personally come over your house and kick your ass. Your choive of the GeforceFX shows me that you know nothing about the world of video card.
You gotta trust me on this one, i spend all of my time alone at home reading video cards review, figuring out ways to mod graphics card, fapping to pornographic material and crying alone on friday night.
Nvidia is supposed to release the GeforceFX last year, but they keep getting delayed. Finally they announced and give it to bench marks website to test it, surprised its got beaten by ATI Radeon 9700 badly. Thats very sad, because the card isnt even out yet and its already beaten by a 5 months old video card.
Also, this card Nvidia giving out is GeForce FX 5800 Ultra, TOP OF THE LINE VIDEO CARD. Whats even more funny is that, NVIDIA changed their mind and NO LONGER make it.
Why? Because its simply HUGE (takes up two PCI slot) and whats even worse is that its fucking LOUD (80 db), even John Carmack has to admit that. Masturbating nerds now call it the VacuumFx LOLOLOMG. .
Check out the sound comparison between GeforeceFX and the 9700
http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030127/geforce_fx-06.html
Nvidia already begin to ship out the Geforce FX but its quite hard to find in stores. But you gotta know that ATI ALREADY HAS SHIPPING OUT THEIR NEXT GENERATION VIDEO CARD THE ATI RADEON 9800 LLLLOOOOOOOOOLLL!!!!
Wait for a while and the price of the 9700 should be down very soon. The Geforce FX likely wont.
I love Nvidia, they make great product. I remember owning a TnT2 and it was the best videocard i ever own. I have no trouble with the drivers, and play every single game fast, good and bug free. While at that time, ATI 7500 was simply a piece of shit. The Ti4200 is a truly awesome video card for its price too. But Ati catches on, and they win this time.
Go now and get a 9700 PRO now for a bit more expensive price (+50$), since youre in canada, the price arent gonna go down soon. _________________ Join Roundeye's secret art forum. SHHHHHHHHHHH! |

I would personally wait for r350 from ati. (I think its gonna be released just in time for DooM III).
oh and DO NOT GET GEFORCE FX.
Unless you need a leaf blower / hair dryer, get radeon 9700 pro if you absolutely have to have similar performance.
I have radeon 9500 pro, its pretty quick, but the drivers are shite... some games get textures corrupted during gameplay... speaking of which nVidias drivers are always rock solid. _________________ "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity" - Sigmund Freud |

Ah...I am one of nVidia's biggest fans, but I will be the first to tell you they did drop the ball. ATI has got 'em against the ropes. Another thing I am in complete agreement with here is the drivers from ATI - they are definitely, absolutely, positively, without a doubt, CRAP! That's one thing - drivers - that ATI could really learn from nVidia. _________________ - Tom Carter

you heard about the uh .... yes.
But yea, Nvidia made a rather large amount of fail, and then infused it in their new card. I have a little voice deep down inside telling me that it probaly has hidden capabilites, they people aren't seeing with current games... but I really doubt thats the case. A lot of people are going with the 9500 pro, but if you've got the cash and don't plan to upgrade again for a while, you might as well get the 9700 pro or the 9800 pro. |

I have to agree with the sentiments above. I picked myself up a Radeon 9700 and it runs rather damn sweetly. All this negative talk about NVIDIA is disheartening as it's unfortunately pretty close to true. I see the GeForceFX (I originally typed MX. Nice slip. @ and think "Eh, NVIDIA'll write new drivers for it and it'll run much nicer." but this may be too far down the line.
Yeup, I've hopped on the ATI bandwagon. 9700, 9700 Pro or the 9800 are definitely where it's at right now. 9700 is fairly cheaper than the Pro variety, and you can apparently overclock it to Pro speeds if that's your thing. _________________ Brain
