good start. for a background I'd say maybe something smoky and warm paletted with muted redish/tanish colors to complement the green of the skin. for the character it just needs a bit more polish on the textures and details. Also pull in some of those redishorange brown colors into the skin and metal but just a lil bit. Thats my suggestion but there are other things you could come up with that would also work. |

a warm background sounds good to me, do you mean pull in the orangish redish colours on the character from the background, to make it all fit?? thx for the advice seems like it might work _________________ When you look at a blank canvas or drawing paper, it stares you in the eyes and thinks it can beat you.~ Justin Beckett |

yeah, thats what I meant. a cool effect is to make the parts of the characters anatomy that are far away from the viewers eye, like the orcs left arm and leg, be tinted more with the colors used in the background, to make him look like hes really in his environment. |

dude an awesome orc, I really like him.
but me thinks u can add more cast shadow to him so that he would pop out more.
I made an overpaint to show u and it is a quick one, dang my over-paint fingers started to itch again.
Welcome to sijun also, hope to see more works from u cause this orc I really like.
ok gotta rush, ace ventura is on.
see you

holy jeez this looks sooo much better even with the fast rush overpaint wow man this looks like 100 times better haha, i can barely tell what you did, how did you paint behind the orc without it going on top of him or making the paint see right thru him? also how did you flip him around?? cause he looks cooler that way. Mind if i snatch your over paint and add to it.? Thanks man! _________________ When you look at a blank canvas or drawing paper, it stares you in the eyes and thinks it can beat you.~ Justin Beckett |

hey cool I am glad u liked the overpaint and sure u can use the overpaint and add to it.
Not sure if you use Photoshop but if you use photoshop here is how I did.
At first I choosed color range and clicked on the white to make a selection of all the white areas. When the white is selected u can paint freely on the background and make changes where u want to have them. This way u can select inverse too and work some more on the character if you want to and then select inverese again to get back to the background.
The flip was made with Flip Canvas horizontal under the image section and Rotate canvas.
The white dots was added with 100% opacity and a white hard brush, I liked how you already had made the skin look rough and a bit wet so I guess I exaggerated that a bit with adding pure white.
let me know if u need more help
keep it up

sweet man i shall try it just a question is the overpaint finished, with me just blending it a bit? besides the background. Cause it looks cool just like that, would i just blend the paint sort of to complete it? lol. _________________ When you look at a blank canvas or drawing paper, it stares you in the eyes and thinks it can beat you.~ Justin Beckett |

Yea maybe the brushstrokes could be washed out a bit and then maybe u could add some small stones on the ground with cast shadow in the same direction and perhaps a little bit of grass here and there.
Sometimes though it looks better with less, simplification, I am trying to learn that and wasssup here in Sijun is the master with simplification, maybe you have seen his work in the speedy. It is good to look at others work to see how they do things.
I would suggest that u could try out some different things on a copy of the file so u can go back if the changes is not satisfying. One thing that could work and that could look cool aswell is to darken the right side of the painting to get a darkside and then add a bouncing light to the orc from that darkside, like a faint blue or orange color.
I think u made a good job on the orc and texture work like that is always a difficult task.
If you want u can keep it like that, the overpaint is now yours. If you do changes post them here and we can help u out.
I am glad u found my tips helpful cause sometimes if feels like I am rambling to myself here in the forum.
ok its getting late and I gotta hit the bed.
see you
