I got an F in a so called class "SAT prep- Math"(i'm an A student) and a D in gym(wtf?)
Thus, my dad decided to take away my internet, computer, etc. Pretty much all my priveleges.
I'll be gone for a while, I guess, unless he changes his mind.
It was nice knowing you all. I won't be gone forever. Just a little while. So take care guys!
Till next time!
I'm still going to keep on painting. WIll check in regularly through school.
See ya!

Hey man, keep sketching! Pencil and paper is all it takes to keep refining those skills.
Best wishes for the academic stuff. |

From an old guy, I think that's kind of harsh, especially given that the Internet connects anyone, kid or old guy, to such an incredible source of information and inspiration... You can tell your dad that... from a guy who's 64, probably old enouigh to be his dad. _________________ HonePie.com

Sorry to hear that.
Coming from a guy thats had problems staying focused in school, I'm not so down on your dad for being harsh. It depends on your attitude during the time you're disconnected. You can either work hard and get your grades back up, which is probably what he is hoping. Or you can rebel and become even worse, which is what I went through in my high school years. Nowadays I wish my parents put more pressure on me to succeed in school, it would have made my life a lot easier. Now i'm older and trying to play catch up, I feel like I lost a lot of time.
Thinking back on it though, it's our life experiences that make us who we are. Now i'm a highly focused guy, I don't give up on my goals. Would I have turned out so focused if things were different in my high school days? Who knows.
I just hope you do well. Good luck to you. |

ceenda> thanks there. i appreciate it. i think this is a good time for me to hone my sketching skills .
max> yeah. it does suck. but im looking at the bright side. i'll be forced to draw more on paper and not on the computer . it'll bring out the traditional side... about the school; i got too lost in art. i need to pick up the pace and keep a good balance between the 2; or else i'll lose both art and education. i just love painting/drawing so much, i forget about everyhting else. and about gym; u have to pass it every single year in highschool in NJ. if not, u get left back JUST for gym...
eyeywoo> hehe. u r old enough to be his dad. not too old though. thanks for the support
jinnseng> thanks! u know, thats the view im taking on this. if my parents dont push me now, i may regret it later. what's the harm in me doing good in school? it can only bring more good, and can help me get scholarships to further my art education, hah. but i do appreciate ur response. it voiced what i had in mind.
thanks for the support guys. i snuck in 2 speedpaintings today when my parents weren't home. at my friends house now; will upload to speedpainting thread. lol. |

if one of my two kids told me he absolutely needed to paint and show their stuff to improve or have feedback, i really don't think i would tell them it's a nono, even if they had average or bad grades really.
if you were playing counterstrike all day long okay fine, shut the puter.
but i would definitely encourage anything involving a creation process.

what the hell???
its 2005, its internet time, its computer time... einstein wasnt a good student either, he got kicked out several times from school as my knowledge goes..( and in this case, you are even a good student, right) ...
thats unfair, talk to your father, and show the einstein inside you...tell him...show him... go!
got nervous, I dnt know what Im talking about when Im nervous...
sorry bout that. _________________ Emir YARDIMCI

that's a baseless rumour! believe me. he was a good student.
people just like the idea of a genius beeing bad in school.
it was a simple misinterpretation of his marks.
anyway, I think just taking away someones computer isn't a way to come to a compromise.
keep up the good work annis! |

Guys, thanks. i appreciate it. I took all of your ideas, and went to my dad. i told him i'd improve my grades, blah blah. promised him. begged him really. so we made compromises. i wouldn't waste my time painting ALL day but rather, i'd set aside time from 6-8 or 9 or whenever till i finished my hw. he reconnected the internet and let me go on teh computer for now. i learned my lesson, i guess. and i'm 'technically' back. what a short vacation?
i was also talking to a teacher in school today. she's supported me all of my life, really, and she said the same thing as sparth:).
i really appreciate the feedback, kudos, and support. it let me have 'the special moment' . it's great being around u guys. you're all a good influence.
once again, i'd like to voice how much i appreciate each and every one of your responses . thanks! |

Trillian just told me that I've used it for 2000 hours. That comes out to around 3 months non-stop, which wouldn't be so depressing, except for the fact that I've only been using trillian for the last year and a half or so. That means that fully 1/4 of my time is devoted to online crap, and I've even drastically cut down on my time spent online over these last two years.
It's challenging to see your life tabulated and filtered like that. You begin to think about all the things you could have done with that raw currency of 2000 hours. I could have learned to play (and maybe master) the piano, or have devoted that time to about 5 years worth of exercise or reading great books or writing my own book or housecleaning or taken a great photograph or start a neo-garage band or work to buy a car or just about anything other than mindless idling. At least I know how to use Photoshop pretty well.
My point? Go do your damn homework. All of it. You'll be a more balanced person for it. _________________ QED, sort of. |

thanks Impaler. lol, one thing though, i'm trying to get better at digi art on the comp. so that's the only reason i'm always on. if i didn't have an interest in digi art, i wouldn't be on the comp all the time. i know what u mean though. thanks for the suggestion . i'm trying to follow it. becommes kind of hard at times... |
