I just finished this project up for Giant Magazine. It was quite a challenge for me, especially trying to get the likenesses to semi-work.
They wanted selected Star Wars characters in the Last Supper. I started out staying really close to the poses in the actual last supper painting
then ended up straying away from them a bit to make the wide range of characters fit.

The gap between Luke and Leia is the gutter of the magazine and it will be cropped off right at the end of yoda.

Very cool.

If I have a critique, and it turns out I do, is that's the two heads at far right don't quite work as well as the others. Obi Wan in particularly seems a bit overly shaded compared to, for example, Luke. Yoda works well, although under his chin looks dark in the context of the image.

But still a cool image. That would have taken some serious effort.

Very neat. I find Mace Windu and Darth Maul to be distracting though, for several reasons. I'm one of those who like to pretend the new trilogy never happened so I would probably have gone all old-trilogy characters, replacing Mace with Lando and Maul with.. umm.. heh.. some other guy. Besides, they're not supposed to be alive, obviously. But maybe the magazine wanted some connection with the upcoming movie?

Anyway.. very very neat.

What a fun painting! I have to agree with Diruo and seeing supposedly dead characters feasting together with living characters from later into the series, but whatever. Its still an awesome piece, and the details are amazing. Mr. Green

Actually, I didn't see that... I would say Lando is the missing peice!! I guess it's hard with Star Wars, there are so many others - like Jabba (though he'd take up the whoel pictures Razz), Bobba & Jango Fett, padme, Qui Gon Jin, Count Dooku (he seemed to have more of a role than Darth maul, though didn't nearly look as cool), but yeah - is still an awesome painting!

Thank you everyone. This was a really fun and challenging project. Of course there is so much I would have like to have done better.

The Real Mark and ElfGirlKimmy: The editors choose the characters. I would have liked to have Darth in the Jesus seat! It is an article celebrating the 6 star wars films so it needed a few of the newer characters. Lando was originally in their list of characters, but I convinced them to have Mace in there instead so there could be the 3 good jedis talking on one side and 3 bad guys on the other side. I just couldn't see Lando talking to yoda. I thought that was silly. Plus it added another new character.

Sumaleth. Definately. Obiwan and Yoda look like they were painted a little different. Live and learn!

I have to second that thought. If you were offering some thoughtful critiques I would get it, but you're not bring that to your comments.

Beautiful painting! To make it a greater parallel to the DaVinci I recommend giving each character a drink cup or chalace of some sort. Also Leah and Luke each need a drape, sash, or some other lesser cloth of each other's colors to get the same cloth color inversal as attributed to Jesus and Mary in the original. I also agree with what you said about cropping so that the space between Luke and Leah becomes the spacial center of the image even though the perspective should still meet at Luke's head.

I haven't been on in so long that I have been looking back to see what I missed and this was an amazing painting.
