WIP for a scene illustration/concept for the Iron Grip: The Oppression, a HL2 mod
http://www.irongrip.net/

Just looking for some comments on general stuff, like composition, colours - which I'll probably change a lot, since it's supposed to be winter, the whole mood should convey a sense of oppression (as the title suggests) and should look cold. Just note that the smoke is completely temporary, and a lot of it is still in their early stages. And oh yea, I used photos for the background, the skybridge thing is also sort of a place holder, more to show the look I'm going for, there'll be more of such industrial motifs mixed in around the environment.

cool illo, and clever use of photography.

except, not looking massively oppressive atm.
maybe try doing something big and general with lighting. darker toward the middle? I have no idea, I am drunk.

the guy in the middleground looks like he's slipping and falling?
the only thing i'd suggest is to work on the anatomy of the soldiers. they dont seem to fit into the scene, color-wise.
otherwise, the idea is very good. keep up the good work Smile

Guy in the middleground? The one running across the street? Er, I'll admit I didn't use any reference, but I thought it looked okay, at least no glaring impossibilities Razz (I changed his face)

Note that I've never seen snowfall in person (snow yes, snowing no), so I have no idea how far out you ccould actually see the snowflakes, can anyone give me general "rules" - so to speak - on what the atmosphere looks like when it snows?
Should I keep it or toss it? Any changes to be made to make it look more plausible? (presuming it doesn't look that way right now)

Great picture, the only thing that I could find is a lack of detail on the running guy's rifle.

hmmm, changed the colour a little, this is final (as far as the mod leader is concerned, cos he apparently sent it to PC gamer, let's hope it gets printed somewhere)

Wow.. very impressive Godwin. Do you think that maybe if the fire is blazing on the road there that the snow would not be melted? Maybe you could change the snow in the centre there into a puddle.. Just a thought.. Great stuff by the way! Oh and maybe a few bullets and cracks or broken bits in the buildings to show that fighting is going on.. hope that gives ya some ideas Smile
