Been awhile since I posted last. Became sick. Found out I'm type 2 diabetic. Doing good and looking forward to my 3rd year of college.
Anyways, I was just approved for my student loan. So I have a little extra cash. I need a laptop type computer since I am going to be moving a lot this year for school. I am planning on getting an iBook. I have used both my aunt's and my friend's. I like them and think they would do what I am wanting.
I am not wanting to do a lot of heavy graphics on it or heavy graphic games. I am mainly wanting it as a portable computer between the 3 places I am going to be living.
I was wondering since a lot of you have used Macs what has been problems with macs (iBooks in specific) have you had or things I should think about or look into. Remember I am not using this as a main graphics computer.
Thanks in advance. _________________ Im not saying that there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but warning labels should be remove and let the problem take

unlucky on the type2, but look on the bright side least u don't have to inject
u say its not ur main machine - what is ur main system? is it another Mac or is it a PC?
i ask because Dual Core AMD Laptops are going to be popping up all over the shop pretty soon
and if you buy an iBook then you'll have to purchase the software all over if you don't already run MacOS..
(u can run the same software on ur Laptop as ur Workstation as long as they're not running at the same time..)
what is it you plan to do with the ibook? |

Dual core anything sounds like overkill. I imagine those things are probably battery vampires.
I just got a little Toshiba R15 tablet PC. 1.6 GHz, 60 gig HDD, and I can paint on it without being tied to a Wacom. Refurbs of that model seem to be going for about $1000.
Might be another route to consider.
Funnily enough (if you can laugh about these kinds of things), I bought the tablet because I've had some health problems lately too, and I really liked the idea of working on paintings in bed. I know I'm going to get a ton of use out of it (already using it for some matte paintings on Delgo while my workstations are busy rendering). _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

I'll let others offer their machine recs, but for diabetes I can offer Ray Kurzweil; he claims to have eradicated type2 diabetes from his system through nutrition and exercise. If I had type2 I'd look into it. His books on the topic are on Amazon. _________________ - Tom Carter

I use a Mac...if nothing else the Mac operating system is superior in my opinion, and iBook would be a worthwhile purchase. (again it's good if you aren't a heavy gamer, because most companies don't come out with games for mac because it's not worth the money to make the mac version). |

Want to say thanks for all your input. I have decided on getting a powerbook instead. I will still have my WinPC for gaming so no problem there. _________________ Im not saying that there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but warning labels should be remove and let the problem take
