This is a little track I did for a ghettotech track battle (I won! Yay!). Basically I had a limited set of samples to work with, and two weeks to come up with a song using those instruments. The samples kinda sucked . . . the drum kit was good, but none of the tonal stuff was great. So instead of being inspired by the samples, it turned into me writing a melody or playing a chord and then trying to find one of the samples that sounded passable for that part.
Overall though, I'm pretty happy with how it came out, and I really didn't expect to win, so that was a nice surprise. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |

Funkeee!! Can never confuse that balistic sound.
2:56 - that disco synth is sweet as hell! Its tune lays down really well on top of repeating chords. |

Just when I was about to say the melody was repetitive, it broke into a fresh groove. Nice track all-around. |

Nice piece Brian - put together real nicely - phresh! I know you've mentioned it before, but what are using to compose? _________________ - Tom Carter

Brian uses Orion Platinum, and he inputs stuff with a mouse in the piano roll--which is an amazing thing considering how funky/groovy/melodic some of his stuff is.
I like the bleepy little melody thing--did you tweak the midi data for the note bend on it, or is it part of the preset parameter? |

thanks guys.
Lunatique: Orion has an automation channel called the T-Slide that lets you do easy bends to whole semitones without having to fiddle with a proper pitchbend. It's something they introduced fairly recently that saves me a lot of time.
I've also got a lowpass filter on the instrument linked to an LFO, to get that bendy funk/disco sound.
The sample itself was just a middle C on a piano. _________________ brian.prince|light.comp.paint |
