Workshop: Perfecting the Mix of Story, Character & Interactivity
Dates: March 29 to 31, 2007

Program Description:
After years of dialogue and ongoing attempts to deepen plot, build believable characters, and refine programming skills, studios are now creating interactive experiences that rival a movie�s level of depth and engagement. Can a game make you cry? Can it make you believe in a character�s mission, in a character�s struggle, strengths, weaknesses, and values? Through the inclusion of story specialists�actors, screenwriters, editors, and special-effects experts�games have made spectacular leaps in delivering an immersive experience. Featuring top story artists and designers from leading digital film, animation, and game development studios across North America, this exciting industry workshop offers insight several exciting topics.

Featured Presenters:
We�ve managed to line up a fantastic set of storytellers for this year�s workshop including:

Ronnie del Carmen joined Pixar Animation Studios in the summer of 2000 during the production of Finding Nemo as a story supervisor on the film. He did production design on the Academy Award� nominated short film, One Man Band and was recently doing story work on Disney�Pixar�s 2007 release, Ratatouille. Ronnie is currently working on development on a future Pixar Animation Studios production.

Kris Pearn, Head of Story at Sony Pictures Animation. Kris has been busy at work on several films at Sony, including Surf's Up!, Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, Hotel Transylvania, and most recently, Open Season.

Josh Staub is the Art and Visual Design Director for Cyan Worlds, creators of Myst, Riven, and URU: Ages Beyond Myst. Josh has also produced his first short film, The Mantis Parable which has gone on to win a number of awards at film festival across North America.

George Georgeadis is the President and Executive Producer for Dreamgazers Interactive which is producing the next generation action/adventure title Dreamers for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PC. The Alberta-based Georgeadis is recognized as one of the �names to look out for in 2007? by Games magazine.

Workshop Topics & Themes:
Through a series of hands-on activities, case studies, demos, and formal presentations, workshop speakers and instructors will focus on topics such as:

� The process of writing and story boarding
� Bringing the visual story from the written word
� The feature story process
� Story structure
� Visual pacing and storytelling
� The story artist: what are studios looking for?
� Your place in line: what reality do you face out there in the market?
� Narrative in an interactive medium
� Storytelling techniques applied to video game design
� Storytelling across multiple media

Just a quick update to let you folks know we've added Ronnie del Carmen, Story Supervisor, Pixar Animation Studios to the presenter lineup.

Registration ends March 28th!
