I'm not too sure of the style but does anyone know where I can get hold of the style that was around in the 1930's on the net. If anyone can remember the promotional artwork for the Rocketeer that's the style that I'm after.
Thankyou. |

It's funny, there doesn't seem to be whole lot of info about it out there (appart from architecture heritage societies). For a style that won't die I haven't seen much around and what there is you really have to dig for; others may know better though.
Try doing a search for "Cassandre" (I think that's how you spell it) as well. Where you find his stuff there's usually more.

THere is actually quite a bit on art deco, but you have to go to the bookstore for it. I have about 8 or nine books on the subject, since it is a small time period, you will find that most of the books you get will have repeated images in them. Renee Mackintosh and Frank Loydd Wright are two architects you can start with. And type in Art Deco Architecture in your search engine, you'll find info there. |

Also look into Raymond Loewy, an industrial designer known for the deco/"streamlined" design. It's probably the type of stuff you're looking for.
