I don' know if I should stop working on this one. There are so many faults in the anatomy and I don't get the light right. If there is somebody out there who could help me with the light it would be great.

well other than the light ... their is only 2 thins that catched my eye,,,, First the neck kinda looks FLAT... it doesnt look like its supporting the head right.... And second the heair is kinda weird at the top of the image... maybe add a bit or shadows and highlight in there....

In all its a good horror image i like it.. great job and great idea

Yes the neck is probably the worst thing but I don't want to change that cause I would have to redo the whole thing. I'll work on the hair if I contiue on this image but what's about the light. Is there anybody else with an opinion out there?
Do I stink or did all of you just cut of your fingers and can't write anymore?

apart the mentioned lighting and neck (i'm of the idea that the lack of depth of the neck is just a lighting issue u could fix in a short time) it's an awesome work, i don't think personally i could achieve that kind of results so it would be out of place advising about what to do (not ATM at least, if one day i'll have more time to spend on colouring maybe i'll get somewhere near decent ).

in ur place i'd keep working on it it's a nice pic and if redoing the whole lighting more coherently would be suicidal, fixing something here and there and completing the detailing (that it seems to me u already got half way at least) would enanche it big time.

(what is it anyway ? a lich born from a really young mage ? it gave me that idea )

Thank you. Maybe I can fix that neck problem in a short time. I'll try that.
Well yes it's a lich, aaah no,no it's not a lich, or... .Let me think about it. ......
To be honest I don't know what a lich is.

nil900,

I think your picture looks pretty good ! I don't know why you don't get much replies.

About the shadows, I did an example, but I can't scan at the moment. But what I tried to illustrate is that sometimes it can be nice to do a simple sketch on paper and render it with one grey marker. Because then you only have one color to shadow with which forces you to make it clearer in a way. But, you could do the same thing in ph. shop as well. The reason why it becomes to flat, is because you've overshaded too many areas with too much contrast and no distinct light. bigger shadow areas would be nice...and still you can have details inside shadows. In that way you can make things easier but still it will get more depth.

Think of spooge, he often put things in silhouttes, just showing the shapes, and then adding a few subtle details inside, then the eye fills out the rest.

Thank you for your response. This sounds quite logically (inspite of that I would like to take a look at your drawing example). But I think I won't try that on this picture because that means to much work.
next time I'll plan the whole thing including the light before starting to go into details.
On this one I just started drawing in Painter having no idea.
